Ambient Noise Measurements – Simple repeat measurements
will provide LAeq 30 min measurements. The
Instrument will also measure the LA1 30 min
statistical parameter. This is required where schools are close
to impulsive sources such as Aircraft, which are often disruptive.
In such scenarios the LA1 30 min statistical
parameter should be noted.
Reverberation Time Measurements – All frequency bands
are calculated in parallel and displayed on screen.
Sound Insulation Measurements – The Nor-118 has a
built in noise generator to synchronise loudspeakers for both level
difference and reverberation time measurements in accordance with
ISO-140. The Nor-118 can also be used in a twin channel system to
test either side of a partition simultaneously. Measurements transferred
to a PC in the Nor-Build program will be rated in accordance with
ISO-717 to produce test reports.
Impact Sound Insulation Measurements – With the Nor-211A
tapping machine the performance of floors can be tested in accordance
with ISO-140.
Speech Intelligibility Measurements – To complete
the Nor-118 package for school acoustics and BB93 a new software
option has been developed to directly calculate the Speech Transmission
Index (STI) in the instrument. The Nor-118 analyses a modulated
signal from a loudspeaker at various student receptor points and
calculates the STI. The result is displayed on screen for the test
engineer to quickly view a pass or fail.
